How to create a ShoutOut command on Stream Elements

Hey what’s up, this is eddy04 and today we’ll learn how to configure a Shout out command using Stream Elements.

There are a lot of bots for Streaming and things can get messy sometimes. I personally switched from StreamLabs which did its job, but there was definitely a better option out there. For me what made me do the switch was the highly customizable Overlays.

But that’s not what we want to crack down today. Anyways, one of the things that I noticed when switching to Stream Elements is the shoutout command is not a default preset command. And you need to create this from scratch and the documentation is not that clear. So this is how you do it.

How to Create Streamelements BOT Commands

You can call this command whatever you want it to be in my case command-so or Exclamation-so for Shoutout is my choice.

Now type in the following Go Follow ${channel ${1}} . They last played ${game ${1}} and check their channel https://www.twitch.tv/${channel ${1}}

Don’t worry I’ve added the command code in the description below. Go ahead, copy and paste it in your Stream Elements account.

How does this work? ${channel} will retrieve the current channel and by adding ${1} this is expecting a variable with one value. Which is supposed to be the target on the command. By typing !so @channelname this will take in the value. The Channel’s name and add it into the ${channel} Variable so it would be something like this ${channel channel’s name} so it will return the Channel’s name.

Same for ${game} returning the channel’s last game or current game.

New Streamelements ShoutOut template

After a while Stream Elements added a shout out template, but works somewhat differently. Where it will add the @ symbol on the name and maybe that’s not what you want. But then again this is only a template and it can help to branch off to new ideas.
