Did you unlock a Skill Specialty in AION 2 and notice no difference? That is because unlocking a Specialty does not activate it.
In this guide I explain how to unlock Skill Specialties, the skill levels that matter (8, 12, 16 and 20), and how to equip them so the bonuses actually work. It follows my video on the same topic.
If you’d rather watch than read, here’s the complete walkthrough on YouTube.
Skill Specialties are extra bonuses you can add to your abilities in AION 2. They can improve how your skills perform, but unlocking a Specialty does not automatically turn it on. You have to equip it yourself.
That is the mistake the video is about: a lot of players unlock bonuses and then wonder why nothing changed in combat.
Specialties unlock as you raise the level of an individual skill. These are the skill levels that matter:
Level up the skills you actually use first, so you reach these milestones on your main abilities.
Open the skill, choose the Specialty you want, and equip it. You can change it later if you want a different bonus. The video shows every step on screen.
Remember: an unlocked Specialty that is not equipped gives you nothing.
I use the Assassin skill Infiltrate to show how a Specialty is chosen and equipped in practice. Watch that part of the video to see the exact options on screen.
Once a Specialty is equipped, its bonus applies to that skill when you use it in combat. This is why checking your equipped Specialties is worth doing after every few skill level-ups.
The second Assassin example is Heart Gore. It shows the same process on another skill, and how the bonus changes how the ability performs.
Unlocking a Specialty does not activate it. Open the skill and equip the Specialty you want.
Skill levels 8, 12, 16 and 20.
Yes. I use the Assassin for the examples, but Skill Specialties work the same way for other classes.
Yes, you can change which Specialty is equipped on a skill.
Skill Specialties are an easy way to get more out of abilities you already have, as long as you remember to equip them. Watch the full video on YouTube for the on-screen walkthrough.
